Higher Education – ÃÛÑ¿TV. Mon, 08 Apr 2024 17:31:02 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.5.3 Bakar BioEnginuity Hub /projects/bakar-bioenginuity-hub/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=bakar-bioenginuity-hub Fri, 20 Dec 2019 20:03:20 +0000 /?post_type=projects&p=1863 ÃÛÑ¿TV provided GC services for the Bakar BioEnginuity Hub at UC Berkeley by creating research facility space and seismically rejuvenating the 47-year-old University Art Museum. The project scope included construction of a full-service life science incubator which included private labs for enterprises desiring more dedicated space, and wet and dry open lab benches for faculty and student researchers. Work also included a single-story, glass-enclosed addition, which adds 6,600 SF of office space to support the research function. ÃÛÑ¿TV self-performed exterior building preservation, fencing, and grouting, which was painstakingly installed to a high level of architectural detail. The project achieved LEED Gold certification.

Within the 40,000 SF incubator is the provision of extensive equipment and laboratory space so that teams can test, develop, and grow their game-changing ideas. Fledgling ventures can lease as little as a single lab bench or half of a freezer shelf, while larger companies can access state-of-the-art equipment for the fields of therapeutics, diagnostics, research tools, agriculture and food tech, and more.

UC Berkeley Weill Hall /projects/uc-berkeley-weill-hall/?utm_source=rss&utm_medium=rss&utm_campaign=uc-berkeley-weill-hall Fri, 17 Mar 2023 00:43:38 +0000 /?post_type=projects&p=2912 In 2021, ÃÛÑ¿TV removed the sixth floor laboratory drains and associated piping and installed new, larger floor sinks, polypropolynene piping, and resinous flooring in UC Berkeley’s Department of Molecular & Cell Biology at Weill Hall. This project included the demolition of existing laboratory equipment and installation of new equipment. Each of the 12 phases consisted of the relocation and re-housing of research animals to allow for the construction and renovation of the facility, which required close coordination with the end users and researchers.

ÃÛÑ¿TV returned two years later to renovate the facility’s basement, first, and second floors. The basement renovation consisted of modifications to the layout and finishes in several animal housing areas as well as the installation of four new fan coil units with associated chilled water piping. The first and second floor renovation consisted of the construction of a new building entrance with a two-story decorative metal panel system above a new canopy and storefront, new finishes at multiple lab entries, full lobby refurbishment on both floors, and updated finishes throughout the corridors, restrooms, and in multiple conference rooms and offices. ÃÛÑ¿TV self-performed soft demolition, finished carpentry, rough framing, and drywall.
